Pre- K Program

The Pre- K program is designed for children 4-5 years of age. Our teacher to child ratio is 1:14. We take preparing your child for kindergarten very seriously here at Kids Advancing Academy. In the preschool classrooms, we work hard to ensure that the children know their shapes, colors, letters, and numbers so that they can take this information and use it to do more complex activities in the Pre- K classroom. The Pre- K teacher uses the Creative Curriculum objectives and the Early Learning Standards in the lesson plans. The Creative Curriculum objectives address the following domains of development: social and emotional, physical, cognitive, and language. In addition, the teachers incorporate the weekly themes such as safety, careers and occupations, and people/ cultures into their lesson plans. We feel that it is important for children to learn about the world around them as well as the essential skills that they need to learn in order to prepare them for kindergarten.Throughout the school year, also learn about the world around them by going on field trips to the Cleveland Metroparks Rainforest, Mapleside Farms, The Natural History Museum, and The Great Lakes Science Center. During a typical day in the Pre- K classroom, your child will engage in various activities including, art, music, science, phonics, math, language arts, and gross motor and fine motor activities. The teacher assesses the children using the Creative Curriculum Assessment and the Ages and Stages Questionnaire. She then uses the results of these assessments in order to make adaptations to her lesson plans. This ensures that each child receives instruction where they need it. At the end of the school year, we have a graduation ceremony for the Pre- K students. We continue to prepare the children for kindergarten throughout the Summer as well as go on weekly field trips.
