The preschool program is designed for children ages 3-4 years of age. Our teacher to child ratio is 1:12. When lesson planning, the teachers use the Creative Curriculum objectives as well as the Ohio Early Learning and Development Standards. This ensures that children receive instruction in the various domains of their development. The Creative Curriculum objectives address the following domains of development: social and emotional, physical, cognitive, and language. In addition, the teachers incorporate the weekly themes such as, safety, careers and occupations, and people/ cultures into their lesson plans. We feel that it is important for children to learn about the world around them as well as the essential skills that they need to learn in order to prepare them for kindergarten. Throughout the school year, your child will have the opportunity to learn more about the world around them by attending field trips to places such as, Mapleside Farms and Lakewood Fire Station. Children also have various events throughout the school year such as Spirit Week, Polar Express Day, Olympics, and classroom parties. During a typical day, your preschooler will engage in various activities including, circle time, art, science, reading, writing practice, creative play time, gym or outside time, and music.Children receive large group, small group, and individual instruction. Your child's teacher will conduct informal daily assessments on them as well as formal Creative Curriculum & The Ages and Stages Questionnaire several times a year. This will allow you and the teacher to come up with an individualized plan so that your child can optimize their learning at both home and school.
